FitFare
A fitness app where you pay per session, with no plans, memberships or subscriptions. I lead its design: the member app, the partner portal and the brand.

- Role
- Design lead, since April 2026
- Scope
- Member app, partner portal and brand
- Platform
- Member app on phone; partner portal on phone, tablet and web
- Status
- Live, with design work ongoing
A year at a value gym in India costs up to ₹14,000. Half the people who don’t join say they can’t afford it, and a third of those who quit only meant to take a break.
Product context
Members book one session at a time at partner gyms and studios, and pay for it with prepaid credits.

5Audience
Four situations where paying per session could suit someone better than a membership. These come from the product and a market report, not interviews. I’ll test them with members.
Situation 1
An unpredictable week
Work, travel or exams leave a free hour here and there, never the same one.
Situation 2
New in a city
No gym yet, and no way of telling which nearby one is any good.
Situation 3
Trying something once
Curious about Pilates, not ready to pay for three months of it.
Situation 4
A member somewhere else
A gym near home, plus the odd class it doesn’t run.
Competitor analysis
I compared six ways to pay for a workout, from day passes to multi-venue memberships, using public pages and help articles from November 2026.2345
- FitFareThis app
Single sessions at partner gyms and studios, paid from prepaid credits.
- paygo.fitLaunched 2025
Pay-per-session booking for gyms, yoga, Zumba and swimming pools.
- cultpass ELITE / PROcult.fit
Gym access across a city, sold in 3, 6 and 12-month plans.
- FITPASSNetwork membership
One membership for workouts at partner gyms in your city.
- A gym’s membershipOne venue
Months paid up front, for one place.
- A gym’s day passWhere offered
One visit at one gym. Not every gym sells one.
What I took from it
Three findings, and they set the design goals below.
Finding 1
Networks sell months
cultpass comes in 3, 6 and 12-month plans. FitFare sells the same reach one session at a time.
Finding 2
Per session isn’t new
Day passes and paygo.fit already do it, so a clear price and an easy first visit have to carry FitFare.
Finding 3
Prepaid can become a plan
If credits expire unused, the member is back to paying for days they didn’t go.
Design goals
From the problem and the findings: what the app has to get right for a member and a studio.
Goal 1
Price one session, up front
The price per session on every card, before the tap.
Goal 2
Don’t let credits go to waste
Each pool’s expiry in view, the soonest spent first, and the rest can go to a friend.
Goal 3
One booking, two sides
The member’s confirmation and the studio’s record describe the same session.
User flow
One session from search to payout, with the member and studio seeing the same booking status.
- Start and end
- What a person does
- What the app records
Information architecture
Five tabs for members and three areas for studios, joined by the booking.
Discovery
Every card shows the price per session, the distance and whether it’s open, before the tap.

Explore and filters
- The count comes first: 248 centres near you.
- Each card has its state, its distance and its price per session.
- Between cards, local activity: 124 people booked a workout today in Koramangala.
- Filters cover distance, hours, rating, price, amenities and a gender preference: mixed, women only or men only.
- The button counts what’s left before the sheet closes: Show 248 Centres.
Card states
Three tags in the same corner of the photo, so a member knows before the tap.

Booking and check-in
The confirmation leads with what was spent. The booking leads with how to get in.

Booked, then upcoming
- Spent and balance first: 750 Fit Credits (FC) out, 3,240 FC left.
- Then the sessions: gym access any time, yoga tomorrow at 7:00 AM.
- My Bookings splits Upcoming and Past.
- Scan QR and Directions sit together on every upcoming session.
- Not Started until the QR is scanned at the venue. The scan records the visit for the member and the studio.
Booking states
Every booking ends in Past, as Completed or Cancelled.
Fit Credits
One Fit Credit equals ₹1. Bookings use the pool that expires first, and members can send unused credits to a friend.

The wallet
- The balance leads: 3,200 Fit Credits.
- Each pool shows what’s used and when it expires.
- Recent transactions: the centre, the time, and the credits in or out.
- How Fit Credits Work states the rule: the soonest expiry is spent first.
- Add Funds and Transfer Credits stay pinned at the bottom.
Sending credits to a friend
Five screens, one decision each. A transfer can’t be undone, so the review shows everything before the button.

Partner portal
The studio sees who’s coming and what each session pays. The portal runs on phone, tablet and web; the studio view here is redrawn because the original isn’t public.

Brand system
This is a proposal. The mark and FitFare Blue are in use; the other changes haven’t rolled out.
Eleven type families. Six store headlines, none about paying per session. Two families, and one line: Pay per session. No membership.

No membership. Just today.Store listings today
Three of the six current headlines. They sell fitness in general; none says you pay per session.

At the studio
Where people decide to try it. The door says the studio takes FitFare, the poster gives a class, a time and a price, and the gift card prints a credit transfer.

Two names for one balance

Three price units on Home
Per session, per class and per day, on one screen. That makes prices hard to compare.

Two tab bars
Home and Bookings have a Fit AI tab, which is still on the roadmap. Explore swaps it for a scan button.

Four tests with members

Beyond booking
What I’ll test
None of this has been tested with members yet. These four come first.
First booking
Can someone new find a session, say its full cost and book it without help?
Wallet and transfer
Can members say which credits expire next, and send some to a friend?
The store line
Does “Pay per session. No membership.” explain the app better than “Fitness That Fits Your Life”?
Coming back
Why people book a second session, or don’t. This is where the four audience situations get checked.
